Before And After School

Our Before and After School Program is designed to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for our students, ensuring that their time before and after school is both enjoyable and enriching.

Before School Program

We offer two cohorts for before school care from 8:00 am-8:40:

  • Pre-Primary and Primary
  • Grades 1-5

Before school care typically starts outside, encouraging students to dress for the weather. This early morning time is held as free play, allowing children to explore, socialize, and engage in activities that start their day with a positive, energetic boost.

After School Program

Our after school program runs from 3:00 – 5:15 pm also comprises two cohorts:

  • Pre-Primary and Primary (Junior After School Program)
  • Grades 1-5 (Senior After School Program)

Junior After School Program (Pre-Primary and Primary)

The Junior After School Program is an extension of the child’s regular day. It takes place in one of the pre-primary rooms, providing a familiar and comfortable setting. The educator holds space for a snack and circle time, fostering a sense of community and routine. Children also have the opportunity for free play, crafts, and outside time, weather permitting, allowing them to unwind and enjoy a variety of activities.

Senior After School Program (Grades 1-5)

The Senior After School Program is framed as theatre education. Led by two experienced theatre educators, this program inspires students to come out of their shells and explore the world of theatre. Students have the opportunity to write their own scripts, perform their own plays, and get involved in various aspects of theatre production, such as set design and character development. This program is a “choose your own adventure” experience, guided by educators with a wealth of experience and a commitment to inclusion. It is designed to help students build confidence, creativity, and collaborative skills in a supportive environment.

Our Before and After School Program at Shambhala School is dedicated to creating an environment where children can thrive, explore, and grow beyond the traditional school hours.
